MWC 2017 Live updates: Motorola Moto G5, G5 Plus smartphones announced


Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 has already begun if you count the pre-event announcements. BlackBerry KeyOne was announced yesterday by TCL and BlackBerry at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. Later LG G6 was announced earlier today. Motorola Moto G5, Huawei, P10, and yes the Nokia phones will be revealed to the world.
Here are live updates from Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, February 26 pre-announcements:
10.00 pm: Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will be available beginning in March in various countries across Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. No word on India launch so far. Moto G5 Plus starts at $229 USD with 2GB RAM/32GB storage version.
9.30 pm: Moto G5 Plus has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 2.0 GHz octa-core CPU and 650 MHz Adreno 506 GPU. It will come with 2 GB/4 GB RAM variants, and 32 GB/64 GB internal storage, with up to 128 GB microSD Card support. The battery on the G5 Plus is 3000 mAh, and it has a 12MP dual focus camera on the back. The Moto G5 has a smaller 5-inch display and 2800 mAh battery, along with 13MP rear camera.
8.40 pm: Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will sport a metal body this time, according to leaks. The Moto G5 Plus will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM, and 3000 mAh battery. It will have a 5.2-inch full HD display.
8.20 pm: Motorola’s event starts at 9.00pm IST. Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will be launching at the event. But the big launch of the night is HMD Global’s return for Nokia. We have a separate live blog for that, which you can follow here.
7.46 pm: Huawei Watch 2 announced. Comes with all-in-one antenna (LTE/BT/GPS/NFC/Wi-Fi) and Nano SIM / eSIM. It has 4GB storage. Supports mobile payment. Runs Android Wear 2.0
7.25 pm: Huawei P10 has 4.5G LTE Internet. Full specs are as follows: P10 has a 5.1-inch 1080p display; P10 plus 5.5-inch WQHD display; the phones run Huawei’s Kirin 960 processor. The P10 has 4GB RAM+64GB storage, the P10 Plus has 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Both phones support microSD slot.
7.15 pm: So Huawei P10, P10 Plus get a Portrait mode of sorts. Hmm sounds very familiar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Yes there’s a Bokeh effect, and monochrome portrait mode as well. Looks like the front camera also comes with Leica branding.
7.10 pm: Huawei P10, P10 Plus camera details: 20MP +12 MP rear camera, has Leica branding.
